Topicality of the theme: The performance of the water companies in the Republic of Moldova, which operates under natural monopoly conditions, is a top priority because the efficiency of the management of the public water supply services influences the standard of living and the health of the population, the activity of the budgetary institutions and the economic agents in the area of services. The purpose of the article is to analyze the evolution of the basic indicators,that best reflect the performance of the water companies, as well as the proposal of additional indicators that would reflect the components of the global performance. Research methods: case study, quantitative and qualitative analysis, comparison, statistical groups, induction and deduction. Basic results refer to: analysis and evaluation of the evolution of financial and technical performance indicators for urban companies over the last 10 years. The performance indicators for 6 water companies were studied before and after the implementation of the National Water Supply and Sewerage Program. It has been proposed a series of actions and / or indicators to be implemented and monitored respectively in order to obtain the overall performance of a water company.
