Rezumat

The actuality of the subject. The international changes that are currently taking place in the market economy directly influence the financial system of the Republic of Moldova, but especially the real sector of the economy. Access to different funds from outside the country and the modernization of banking operations are important factors that considerably influence the way in which financial resources are set up and distributed within indigenous entities. By making an incursion into history and geopolitics, geographical location and regional conjuncture, the Republic of Moldova does not have a particular geopolitical or geoeconomic importance for the big international economic actors for the moment. The biggest disadvantages arising from the geographical location of the Republic of Moldova are its "closure" between Ukraine and Romania (including the Transistrean problem), the lack of an exit to the Black Sea, the military and political presence of Russia, the general instability in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. It seems, however, that its geopolitical value to Russia and to Western Europe will increase as NATO and the EU expand to the east, and with that, real premises for achieving economic sovereignty, even limited, will appear.
