The article substantiates the need for teachers to develop design skills, which will allow them to consciously solve pedagogical tasks to improve the educational process in primary school, develop students' creative abilities based on the formation of personal and semantic activity, and design the content of education taking into account ethnoregional characteristics. Design competence can be successfully developed on the basis of professionalization of the content and technologies of pedagogical education.
