Rezumat

Stress is one of the "diseases of civilization" contemporary. International Labour Office considers stress "one of the most serious problems of our time, not only for individuals who endanger their physical and mental health, but also for companies and governments ". It is easy to see that the term individual exceeded the biological aspect, affecting the individual and the social. "Stress" as a concept initially appears in medical language, Canadian physiologist Hans Selye due in 1936. Also in 1936 by Selye described and "general adaptation syndrome" as the effort made by the body to respond to the environment. History of the introduction of the term in use is due to general disease syndrome that is observed in patients affected by infectious diseases, presenting all the same symptoms, but not possible to outline a general symptom specific. Inference led to the conclusion that every body responds to disease nonspecific.
