Rezumat

This article examines the dynamics of confident behaviour and emotional competence of psychology students. The authors investigate the link between professional skill development and the level of confident behavior, as well as assess the impact of emotional competence on learning success and career in the field of psychology. The experimental study involved 100 respondents – 1st – 3rd year psychology students. The hypothesis tested supposed the existence of differences between confident behaviour and emotional competence in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd -year psychology students, suggesting that university studies contribute to their development. Although differences between confident behaviour and emotional competence have been identified in psychology students of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year, a negative trend has been noticed. The results obtained are analysed and compared with other studies. Unsatisfactory indicators of confident behavior and emotional competence among students who have information and knowledge about emotions, personality, behavior, and self-awareness, as well as other revealing the essence of the concepts indicate the insufficient influence of psychological training according to common, generally accepted schemes. To increase these skills, practical exercises in-group learning, individual and group forms of psychological counselling and therapy are required, especially when students are interested in personal transformation and development. The authors demonstrated the need to create special psychological and pedagogical conditions for the development of confident behavior and emotional competence among the future psychologists while studying at the university and activating the practice of attracting additional resources to support the educational process.
