Rezumat

The wilted silage or haylage play an important role in the nutrition, wellbeing and productivity of animals. Sesame Sesamum indicum L. belong to Pedaliaceae family, is an annual herbaceous plant native to Africa and India, cultivated for its edible seed, oil and flavorsome value. This research was aimed at evaluating the biochemical composition of the haylage prepared from introduced taxa of sesame Sesamum indicum, grown in monoculture in an experimental field of the National Botanical Garden (Institute), Chişinău, Republic of Moldova. It has been determined that the prepared haylage had brown leaves with yellowish shades and yellow stem with specific aroma, 335 g/kg DM, pH index 4.35, 0.63% acetic acid and 3.09% lactic acid, 0.03% butyric acid. The dry matter nutrient content were: 11.69% CP, 33.56% CF, 13.51 % EE, 27.64% NFE, 0.9% sugars, 0.67% starch, 13.70% ash, 1.44% Ca, 0.30% P, 21.50 mg/kg carotene, mg/kg with energy supply of forage 19.75 MJ/kg GE, 10.59 MJ/kg ME and 5.92 MJ/kg NEl. The haylage mass substrate contained 479.4g/kg carbon and 18.70 g/kg nitrogen, optimal C/N= 26 and the biochemical methane production potential averaged 314 l/kg ODM. The haylage prepared from introduced taxa of sesame Sesamum indicum has good nutrient content, can be used as alternative fodder for livestock and also as feedstock for anaerobic digestion in biogas reactors, for renewable energy production. Financial support for research was offered by the National Agency for Research and Development, projects no. 20.80009.5107.02., no.20.80009.5107.07 and no. 20.80009.5107.12.
