The process of low carbon steel’s corrosion in water on the addition of a water extract of horse chestnut fruit by gravimetric, electrochemical, and physical chemical methods, namely, UV and IR spectroscopy and X ray analysis, was investigated. It was shown that the extraction time and the additives’ concentration appreciably decreased the steel’s corrosion rate to a value of 6.4. The protection degree is estimated to be 84%. A possible mechanism of the inhibition’s action was proposed.
