Rezumat | ||||||
The paper presents objections against the version of the Balkan infinitive loss allegedly manifesting a general tendency towards its disappearing because of the very „mechanism of contacts” between languages or, as it is called in transformational terms, because of its absence in elementary nuclear structures. The adduced facts show that it is just the infinitive, which appears ad hoc instead of personal verbal forms, included in nuclear structures, thus facilitating the contacts between people not quite familiar with one another’s languages. On the contrary, the Balkan type replacing of the infinitive is the transmission of a structure into a language from another one in which it has existed since long ago, being by no means created ad hoc by the mechanism of contacts, nor due to its not being a nuclear structure etc. |
