Rezumat

The review article is devoted to discussion of the phenomenon of intoxication, its role and mechanisms of its infl uence on human health. It is concluded that both endogenous and exogenous intoxication have common mechanisms of action on cells, tissues and organs of the body, and intoxication is a nonspecifi c reaction of the organism to the infl uence of environmental factors during the antenatal and postnatal period. The level of intoxication infl uences on the quality of the sanogene physiological state of the organism including mental health. Non-specifi c indexes C and Fisher, the ratio of amino nitrogen in plasma and erythrocytes may serve as markers of intoxication. The content of sulfur-containing amino acids, particularly methionine and its derivative - glutathione may be considered as Informative markers of endogenous intoxication.
