Nowadays the cyanophytes (cyanobacteria) are one of the most promising groups of microorganisms used in biotechnology. The dietary supplements obtained from their biomass are considered valuable because they can provide such important nutrients, as amino acids, fatty acids and vitamins. The Nostoc flagelliforme biomass, due to its biochemical content, could be used as a source of valuable biologically active substances. It is one of the cianobacteria that contains practically all groups of bioactive substances (proteins, amino acids, fatty acids source, vitamins, lipids macro and micronutrients, etc.). Therefore, in Asian countries is widely used as a dietary supplement and feed additive. The present work is based on the study of mineral content of Nostoc flagelliforme biomass, rich in carbohydrates and source of many minerals such as Ca, Mg, K, Na, Zn, Fe, etc. As object of the study served the cianobacterium Nostoc flagelliforme (Berk et.Curt) Elenk., deposited in the collection of Research Laboratory “Phycology” of Moldova State University. The nutrient medium used to cultivate the alga was obtained from a combination of soil, sand and clay with distilled water in the following proportions: black earth soil – 50gr/l, sand – 50gr/l, clay – 200g/l. The cultivation was performed using the periodically method maintaining the optimal temperature and lighting conditions. The spectrum of chemical elements was determined in the Laboratory of Atomic Spectroscopy of the Institute of Chemistry of the ASM. The mineral necessities are determined by their important role vital processes. Regardless of their quantity in the organism, all biogenic mineral elements are essential because they can not be synthesized or replaced. According to the presented results (table), the biomass of Nostoc flagelliforme grown on optimized medium of soil extract, possess a rich content of minerals Mg, Fe, K, Ca, Na. Our results confirm the value of Nostoc flagelliforme biomass, which could be interesting for specialist due its biochemical composition.
