Joseph Conrad’s work marks a new era, Richard Curle wrote in 1914, recognizing, however, that only time could confirm the correctness of what was said. The critic was not wrong and time has not diluted the freshness of his assertion. From then up till now, the English writer of Polish origin has enjoyed the public consideration, among the decisive factors that contributed to this state of things one enumerating the popularity of the writer’s works, their phenomenal character, novelty and up-to-datedness. In fact, each of these factors, examined apart, reveals more arguments to support this point of view. Hence the article focuses on the above-mentioned factors in order to prove how they shaped the writer’s uniqueness in Anglo-Saxon literature. |
