Rezumat

What is noticeable even at first sight in the novels of Paul Goma is, in addition to the large number of women, the forms’ variability and the vast register of colors which they acquire in carnivalesque aesthetics adapted to a personal style and consecrate their creator as a modern artist opened to the vanguard experiment. In the free play of the imaginary possibilities, the women get portraits by combining different poetic profiles, from that of a grotesque realism to the surreal one. The language describing the woman, the associations and the expressions showing the inside and outside signs, from the physical and psychical world, her soul signals, her fantasies, tone, pace and mobility will give rise to some strange configurations. The Romanian suite of round, abundant, corpulent, with elongated members, filiform, disassembled, sharpened, cylindrical etc. women are real aesthetic challenges. Memorable due to the strange physical and linguistic portraits, obtaining physiognomic distortions directly proportional with the deterioration of the history, the women from Paul Goma’s novels compose an exceptional gallery of characters. Our demonstration will target mainly two of the writer’s novels: Roman intim and Bonifacia.
