Rezumat | ||||||
The present work aims to analyze and interpret the meanings of the element of water in Gheorghe Grigurcu’s lyrics. In the Encyclopedia of Romanian Imaginaries, a volume coordinated by Corin Braga (Polirom, 2020), the idea is stated that „the imaginary is the whole world of beliefs, ideas, myths, ideologies that nourishes all individuals and all civilizations”. Our scientific approach will highlight the primordial element – water – with its valences of femininity, mystery, fatality, violence, absolute knowledge and purification, values found in the lyrical creation of the poet, where the three states of aggregation of water reveal symbols as a particularity of a well-defined lyrical universe. Water as a metaphor of life and death, of purification and knowledge, turns into an identifiable semantic core in the poet’s exegesis. Having maternal meanings, the water flowing from the clouds with drops like mother’s milk, reveals an image with fundamental meaning for water as a life-giving liquid and milk as a water that perpetuates life. |
