In the article are presented the results of Youth Personal Competences Experiment occurred during Youth Competences Observatory within the NIER and under general guidance of UNDP Moldova. The purpose of the experiment was to assess the adequacy between the competences held by young people and those required by employers. The results of the experiment indicate that young people overestimate their personal competences. According to young people's self-assessments, the most developed personal competences they hold are friendly personality, punctuality, organization, adaptability/flexibility, teamwork and self-motivation. Most competences are more developed for youth working in the banking sector than for youth working in IT and the textile industry. Young people working in these areas have selected specific personal competences to carry out their job duties and which employers require. According to youth, the most requested personal competences by employers are punctuality, organization, adaptability/flexibility, teamwork, complex problem solving and analytical thinking. The last mentioned competences, although considered as required by employers, can be developed through professional experience. |
