In linguistic studies of grammar of the text, the description of the category of futurity is considered to be the most interesting one from the point of view of its characteristic features, since the understanding and perception of the semantics of the future by a person is especially relevant. The study views the category of futurity and its expression in the texts of fiction and publicist styles. The research is conducted within the framework of a functional approach, which is based on the semantic principle of modeling and is focused on the study of linguistic phenomena in its actual use of the language. Such an approach considers the factors of formation of language systems consisting of multi-level elements. The perspective of the functional approach is also due to the possibilities of corpus research. The results of the study can be used in the textbooks on the interpretation and stylistic analysis of the text, in specialized lecture courses on theoretical and functional grammar, stylistics of modern English, as well as in classes on the practice of English.
