Group Name: Background and Aims: Ischemic stroke in young adults is a rising health problem with multiple risk factors. The aim of the study was to establish the risk factors in young adults with recurrent stroke. Methods: Retrospective medical records evaluation of 1687 patients with ischemic stroke from January 2018 till December 2019 was performed and 56 patients aged 50 and less were included. Was analyzed the risk factors profile, clinical presentation, neuroimaging, and comorbidities stratified by the recurrence of stroke. Results: The study cohort consists of group I (first stroke) – 46 p and group II (recurrent stroke) – 10 p. There are no differences between groups according to age, length of hospital stays, and NIHSS at admission. The recurrent stroke group presented more often with epileptic seizures (20% vs 0%), transient ischemic attack (10% vs. 2.2%), vertebral artery hypoplasia (42.9% vs. 32.4%) and old infarcts on imaging (80% vs. 6.5%, t ¼ 5.29, ˂0.001). The risk factor profile is presented in table 1. All risk factors are more prevalent in the recurrent stroke group except the infections that a less expressed, but without statistical significance. Multiple linear regression was calculated to predict the recurrence of the stroke based on the risk factors profile. E significant regression equa-tion was found for anterior C-V event (F (1,11) ¼ 10.15, p < 0.009, with R2 of .480). Conclusions: The recurrent ischemic stroke in young adults has a specific risk factor profile with anterior CV events as the predictor for recurrence and infections less important than in the whole cohort.
