Background and Aims: Stroke in children represent a major neurological urgency which is principal cause of morbidity and mortality. Its frequency in neonatal period is one for 25004000 livebirths, and in children aged below one month the frequency is from 1,2 o 8 per 100000 population. Scope: studying the immunoenzymatic expressivity of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in children with ischemic stroke (IS) on the background of analysis of statistical data to elucidate the pathogenesis and prognosis of the disease. Materials and methods: In the period of 2010 2019 in Republic of Moldova was carried out a prospective study of the sample of 53 children with IS. Were carried out many immunological investigations one of which is based on the determining the serum level of IL-6 in the patients with IS, i.e., in the studied group, using ELISA immunoenzymatic assay. For the control w used sample of 53 practically healthy children. Results: Was determined increased level of IL-6 in studied group with medium level of 22.02 2.143 pg/ml, the values varied between 4.58 pg/ ml and 65.71 pg/ml. The medium value of IL-6 in control group was 2.38 0.302 pg/ml, minimal level was 0.01 pg/ml and maximal 5.38 pg/ml, with significant statistical difference (F ¼ 43.810, p < 0.001). Conclusions: In acute period of IS in children was observed significant increasing of serum level of IL-6, which suggests implication of inflammatory mechanisms in pathologic process. Acute inflammation in pediatric IS suggests the need for early administering of anti-inflammatory treatment. Extremely high values of IL-6 suggest the prognosis of the disease.
