Rezumat

Academic stress is a special case of stress included in the conceptual realm of "organizational stress" caused by certain stress factors. Academic stress defined as a student's reaction for tasks and exercises that have to be performed, such as tests, exams, essays, presentations, etc., makes a student activate different strategies in order to be able to cope with respective educational problems and successfully achieve all goals. In the Republic of Moldova, as in many other countries of the world, the system of education was among the first sectors to be hit by the COVID-19 crisis, which no one could have imagined. After the suspension of the educational process, teachers and students of educational institutions of the country began the process of online learning. As online learning became the norm, schools, kindergartens and universities were forced to quickly learn how to use the online learning platforms. However, the sector of education (like many other sectors) was not ready to accept this change in such short period of time. Analysis of the study's results confirms that the level of stress felt by students during the quarantine and online learning increased at almost all levels, confirming the increase of the zone of stress and distress, as well as the decrease of well-being and satisfaction. Academic distress is an undesirable scourge that greatly affects students, especially in the context of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the situation of academic distress appears the necessity of its prophylaxis or/and diminution. From the perspective of programs dedicated to prophylaxis and decreasing of academic distress in the school environment, the results of performed study suggest that permanent work with students (individual and group psychological counseling, monitoring of school tasks) represents the necessity which can have long-term positive effects. The approach of students can be fulfilled differently, depending on their competencies. Creating of tasks for evaluation of real, well-structured, non-discriminative, diverse and wide school knowledge and their realization in the relaxed atmosphere represent one of the preventive measures, which are immediately available for the teachers.
