Rezumat

In this article the authors characterize the phenomenon of banking globalization and its implications on banking activity in Central and Eastern European countries and in banks in cross-border areas. In recent decades, the banking sector has also experienced an extensive globalization process. Some banks have adopted a strategy of raising funds and lending within various national markets, thanks to local implantation.Others have focused their development on financial markets, also trying to locally finance their national securities portfolios. The globalization of banking activity occurs as a natural consequence of the multiple transformations carried out in the processes of production, circulation of goods and services worldwide. On the other hand, given the vital role of ensuring and distributing financial resources in all development processes, the globalization of banking activity asserts itself as a promoter and supporting factor of globalization in all compartments and sectors of economic life.
