Rezumat | ||||||
The Republic of Moldova is a small power with reduced political, military and economic potential, lacking sufficient capacity to be essential in international relations. Its national security is diminished because it is not a member of a coalition of states with major share in the international security system and because it has no importance in achieving geopolitical/ geostrategic interests by some great powers within the Pontic area. From this point of view, Moldova’s national security turns out to be eminently vulnerable to threats and risks that occur as a result of the impact of great powers’ geopolitical interests over the Black Sea Region, but also over the buffer zone where it is located. The place Moldova is going to have within the regional security arrangements will also play a substantial role in capitalizing the opportunity to strengthen its national security, which would help to change finally the status of the Republic of Moldova from user to regional security supplier within the Pontic area. |
