Problem of alcoholism remains current and of major importance. Studies are needed to elaborate effective psychopharmacotherapeutic methods aimed at preventing the formation of pathological addiction and the detection of factors that contribute to the recurrence of alcohol abuse in general population Objective of the study. To study the risk factors in the formation of addiction syndrome in alcoholic beverages and the prevention of relapses in cases of long-term consumption. To appreciate the role of antidepressants in combating pathological addiction and relapses. Material and Methods. The study included 21 men, aged 35-45, suffering from alcoholism, who were diagnosed with pathological addiction to alcohol, abstinence and emotional disorders in the form of depression, anxiety and dysphoria. Investigated and evaluated on an outpatient basis. Used HADS scale, AUDIT questionnaire, CAGE test. Administered antidepressants (clomipramine, venlafaxine). Results. Clinical and statistical, the presence of affective disorders was confirmed in those included in the study: in 11 patients (52.38%) detected depressive-anxiety states, in 7 (33.33%) depressive-asthenic, in 3 (14.29%) depressive-dysphoric, found as triggers-motivational factors in updating addiction. This served as a criterion for the indication of antidepressant therapy. A marked reduction in depressive symptoms was found over 14 days and clinically important over 3 months which contributed to the obsolescence of pathological addiction significantly in 55.2% of cases (12 patients), moderate 37.6% in (8 patients), insignificant (7.2%) in 1 patient. Conclusion. Concomitant decrease of depressive symptoms correlated with the deactivation of the pathological compulsion towards alcoholic beverages.Administration of antidepressants (clomipramine, venlafaxine) in a dosage of 150-225mg/day, for 3 months, is effective in deactivating the pathological addiction |
