The evolution and development of the society are closely connected with the genesis and functionality of values. From the historical perspective, the idea of value is implied in the first knowledge the man got about the environment and about himself. Philosophical reflections on values, during a long period of time, meant especially the values of spiritual nature: the good, the beautiful, the truth and divine. There are examined more orientations which tried to contribute to the delimitation of the term value, though each of these put the stress on a certain aspect. The great changes and transformations of today impose necessarily, the return, reception and promo- tion of authentic values.
