The complexity and difficulty of the original text of Sophocles is to be brought to the public in the XXI-first century. Sophocles is the playwright who is characterized by sobriety and highlighting the spirit of the citizen. The rational that keeps the era of the democratic Pericles, determines each piece crafted singular tenacity. Mounting the show "Oedipus" (made up of two plays written by Sophocles: "Oedipus Rex" and "Oedipus at Colonos") is an exercise of resistance, of argument of craftsmanship directing from his side Silviu Purcărete and the troupe of the National Theatre in Sibiu, to use the text to give the allure of re-knowing/ re-establishment of tragismului our times. Oedipus reveals the desire for social to take advantage, he is not ambulance chaser. Charges Creon's are returned to the rational of Oedipus, but his mode of interpretation does not it diverts from the truth. The heroic Oedipus complex, as highlighted by the acting of Constantin Chiriac, consists in to assume the promise. The queen of Thebes Jocasta, in disribuția Ofelia Popii, is the strong woman in different scenes her behavior is changing: initially appears passionate, loving, understanding, impulsive, rational. The witness – shepherd – puts her face-to-face with the memory, pushing her to self-destruct. The game theatrically crosses these stages of presentation of the character: initially wife, then revealed as the one who sacrificed the child in order not to perform the ordeal prophesied in Delphi, then a widow, but offered as a reward for the release of the horrors of the sphinx, and the last – one of the causes of the plague in the polis. The sudden appearance of the king Theseus is done in the style of the ancient theatre: Deus ex machina. Is the solution unexpected, but showing the author's attitude toward Oedipus. In the reflection of the XXI century the heroism of Oedipus is focused in his decision to not know where he will be the grave – is the denial of the leader to be a cult in the future. |
