Parental involvement is an important aspect that need to be considered in education especially in childhood education. Several studies show that parental involvement has a significant influence on academic achievements and social skills of the children. It is report that parents engagement in their children education correlate with their children academic ability and social competences. Parental involvement in early childhood education would not only give benefit to the children but also to their teacher and parents. Although parental involvement is a popular topic but however there aren’t any research that try to describe the parental involvement in early childhood education in Surabaya. Therefore, it is important to identify parental involvement in early child-hood education in Surabaya. Aim of this research is to describe parental involvement in early childhood education in Surabaya. Method used in this research is survey research. The samples included 60 parents in 5 early childhood education institution which each institution represent each region in Surabaya. Parental involvement scale was used to collect data. Statistic descriptive was used to describe parental involvement in early childhood education. The result showed that male figure has higher involvement in their early childhood education compared to female. |
