The community mediation successfully promoted within the EU Member States deserves to be promoted in the Republic of Moldova much wider than at present. The activity of community mediation is carried out in the community mediation centers, based on the voluntary participation of mediators and supported by the local authorities, civil society entities. At the heart of community mediation there are the principles of democratic participation in community decisions, respect for citizens’ rights and awareness raising (empowerment) of institutions working in each community. Such type of mediation allows effective settlement of conflicts in the field of community policies, allocation of local and regional material and financial resources, property and use rights, neighborhood disputes, environmental disputes, public order.
