In recent years, a renewed interest in raising motivation amongst students in academic settings has emerged. This has led to a great deal of research that aimed to shed light on diverse theories of motivation, in order to increase the learning motivation amongst students. Self-Determination Theory (SDT) is one of the most comprehensive and empirically supported theories of motivation available today, that aims to promote students’ curiosity in learning. The purpose of this article is to make an overview of learning motivation from a SDT perspective. |
