During the period under review, North America has faced the main currents of colonization: English, American, French, Spanish and Russian. The most viable proved to be the American influence. The United States of America, by substantially extending their borders, won the most solid position on the continent. In the late nineteenth century United States became a true world power. As historical facts testify, in some cases the US expansionist policy was realized by peaceful means, as a result of successful negotiations, on the concluding of agreements to acquire territories.
