Rezumat | ||||||
Paul Goma remains one of the exemplary exponents of the Romanian literary exile. The writer's singular dissidence, his insurgent uniqueness, can be seen in his letters, statements, diaries and memoirs, as well as in his literary texts. At the same time, the basarabian without homeland is also one of the very few Romanian anti-communist dissidents-opponents known internationally, and the literary personality about whom much has been written abroad. The writer was put in the position of choosing dissidence in order to free fiction from the tyranny of ideology. After his many exiles (like the wanderings of Ulysses-Odysseus), Goma, the Basarabian "wanderer" in his own country, a stranger to his own people, repeatedly rejected and ignored, remains a symbol of his time and an undeserved part of Romanian exile literature. After long wanderings at home and abroad, the "odyssey" of truth finally located Ithaca in Paris. The fate of this Basarabian Ulysses, however, was marked not by Moyra, but by security, the writer remaining an exile forever. |
