The aim of the paper is to define the basic criteria in structuring agricultural holdings in the Republic of Moldova by using discriminant analysis and logistic regression in order to optimize agricultural policies of governmental decision makers. The sustainable rural development have had to do the functional relationship highlighting between the degree of farmers' market comercialization and the economic efficiency of the agricultural holdings. For this, it is necessary to identify statistically the key variables characterizing the types of the holdings that embrace the workforce size, the fixed assets, the raw material and the agricultural technology used to achieve the financial objectives of the economic units. The parametric analysis proposed in the paper defines the optimal size and the best comercialization degree of farmers that is depending on agroclimatic, technological, economic and productivity factors under approach of improving the performance of the agricultural sector.
