Rezumat

As human beings, we are prepared for social connection and interaction. In today‟s world, we still need social connection for emotional well-being, a sense of community, and support. Despite this psychological need for connection, loneliness is a common experience that affects everyone universally, regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity. Specialized literature does not provide a clear definition that identifies the mechanisms of loneliness, how it manifests itself, or a specific psychological category or process. This article synthesizes theoretical approaches to interpreting loneliness among older people. This study aims to look at the link between loneliness and different aspects of physical and mental health, including pain level, quality of life, mental health, cognitive performance, and morbidity. It will add to previous research that looks at what causes loneliness and how to treat it. Loneliness is characterized by suffering, emotional fatigue, and interference in interpersonal relationships, resulting in psychological regression. There is no consensus on what constitutes loneliness: problems or happiness, norm or pathology. The many factors contributing to loneliness and potential strategies for reducing it suggest that various approaches are relevant to reducing solitude among older people. The lack of a clear picture of the approaches to loneliness among older people denotes that this phenomenon can have different nuances. Addressing loneliness through a multi-faceted approach is essential to mitigating its impact and effectively reducing its occurrence.
