Rezumat

Taraxacum officinale F. H. Wigg is a species from the Asteraceae family which exhibits antiinflammatory, antitumor, hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic activities. It exerts also antioxidant properties due to its components, like polyphenols, flavonoids, carotenoids, ascorbic acid and tocopherols.Aim of the study: to determine the total poliphenols content (TPC) in TOL. Materials and methods: TOL were harvested from a natural habitat of Republic of Moldova in May 2021. Plants were dried at room temperature, during 2 weeks. Six series (10, 20, 25, 40, 50 and 80%) of leaves ethanolic extracts were made. Determination of TPC in TOL extracts was carried out using the method of S. Arabhani- Delouee and A. Urooj (2007), in our modification [1,2]. TPC in TOL extracts was calculated using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and expressed in terms of tannic acid equivalent (μg TAE)/mg dry weight (DW) of plant. The standard curve equation: y = 3.9712x – 0.1725, where x is the absorbance measured at 765 nm using spectrophotometer Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader (BioTek Instruments, USA) and y is the μg TAE/mg DW. Results: The coefficient of determination for TPC in TOL had a good linearity R2 = 0.9918. The concentrations of phenols in the examined TOL extracts range from 97.06 to 144.95 mg TA/g. The content (M±SD, mg/mL) of TPC was: in ethanol of 10% – 97.06±8.07, 20% – 114.86±5.36, 25% – 114.95±4.38, 40% – 135.49±3.51, 50% – 144.95±5.08 and 80% – 132.58±4.62. Conclusions: Taraxacum officinale leaves represent an important source of poliphenols, whose content depends of alcohol concentration. The highest amount was established in ethanolic extracts of 50%, 40% and 80%.
