Rezumat

The article presents an important issue for policy-makers: active ageing principle. The active ageing mainstreaming is a need for contemporary society, affected by the demographic ageing, that will put pressure on the financial system, on social security system, on health system, on labour market etc. Early interventions through programs and measures will contribute to increasing the resilience of societies and transforming the challenges generated by ageing into opportunities. The article represents a historiographical analysis of the development of the concept of active aging, including the case of the Republic of Moldova.
