As is known, the sounds of a language can be classified by articulation and structure. From the point of view of articulation, compound consonantic monophonemic units (CCMU), like all consonants, can be characterized according to 3 criteria: 1. Mode of articulation; 2. Place of articulation; 3. Participation of the vocal cords. Structurally the consonants can be divided into simple (occlusive, fricative etc.) and compound (CCMU or affricates). The system of consonantism in the Romanian, English and German languages is a complex phenomenon with specific regularities. From the point of view of comparing the sounds of the target languages at the level of articulation, there are sounds present only in one of the three languages (for example, the interdentals /θ, ð/ from English, the affricate /ts/ from Romanian or the semi-stop /pf/ from German), identical in the three languages (for example, /p, b, k, g/ etc.) and similar (they correspond according to general criteria, but differ in terms of secondary ones, for example: /t, d, ʃ, ʒ/ etc.). |
