In 1895, three studies were printed in Hungarian about the life and work of Mihai Eminescu. The first study is the doctoral thesis of the student Elie/Ilie Cristea, a graduate of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the University of Budapest. He obtained the title of doctor in philology with the work in Hungarian: Eminescu, life and work. Study on newer creations from Romanian literature. Through his work, Cristea creates a complete picture for that time, about Eminescu. In a few years, the author will become the first patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church (since 1925). The other two studies are signed by the professor Dr. Szőcs Géza, from Sibiu, one with the title Eminescu, which is actually his doctoral thesis, and the other A few words about Eminescu’s literature. The appreciations, the portrait of the Romanian poet made throughout the study, the comparison with the Hungarian national poet, as well as the few translations of the Eminesian verse have a special significance in terms of the reception of Romanian literature in the Hungarian language and especially of the Romanian poet. They are the first steps in a long and winding road of Eminence reception in the Hungarian language. |
