An effective education system provides the solid basis for a whole country’s future prosperity. Due to the rapid technological development in the 21st century, the gap between what is taught and the learners’ actual needs has widened. The education system still heavily relies on the 19th - 20th century approaches when it comes to educating the younger generation; whereas the technology integration, which has been massively adopted across the country, has been erroneously perceived as the only solution to the existing problems. Undeniably, educators should use technology in the education process, yet they should have the exact purpose of why they are doing it and the vision of how it is going to answer their learners’ needs. However, the central focus at present should be helping learners become emotionally intelligent, or, in Brené Brown’s words, emotionally literate. Similarly, educators should foster flexibility and cognitive agility so that learners can be able to effectively function in the 21st century society, in which the biggest problem might not be their ability to think, but their ability to constantly rethink the habitual patterns. |
