In the present study, the Republic of Moldova territory’s favorability is addressed through the terroir term; as a general geographic study. The terroir term comes from terre - "land" which combines all place’s environmental factors that influence the crop (in our case the grapevines); environmental particularities, the culture, agricultural practices etc. Long before the French, ancient wine regions of the world had already developed a concept of different territories witch had potential to produce different and distinct wines even from grapes of the same variety. Experts in the field haven’t yet a common view on the precise definition, but particular attention is paid to natural elements. As essential components, the terroir includes: climate, soil, geomorphological parameters, items generally detailed in the presented article. |
