The literary character is a ,,existence”, a being that appears exclusively in literary texts. The characterization of the character can be direct or indirect. Characterization by name is a widespread process in folklore and cult literature. The reader creates in his mind a space where he tries to guess the meaning suggested by the name. Suggestive in this sense are the names of the characters of Ion Creanga, Petre Ispirescu, I. L. Caragiale, M. Eminescu, Ion Budai Deleanu, Francois Rabelais, James Joyce, N. V. Gogol, Umberto Eco. In the literature there are works that bear the name of the main character, sometimes accompanied by other words, to help the reader to more easily establish the character, moral and / or even physical qualities, the role of the title and attract the reader. |
