Rezumat

Family and social reinsertion of former Moldavian soldiers who fought in Afghanistan is
marked by the so-called afghan syndrome, a psychosomatic trauma caused by the alerting
agent – war, which generated a major long-term emotional impact and an identity crisis of
those who took part in that event. Their socialization was hindered by various conflicts
with society, manifested on a conceptual level and, at present, the “afghan” veterans live
in a period of opening towards society, a fact supported by their temporary detachment
from the traumatizing event.
