The effective playing time is an important problem in the progress of a football game, with implications in both the scientific guidance of the training process and the achievement of superior results. The following research aims at revealing the important aspects regarding the effective time of play during the official senior matches in the National Division, Division A and B from the internal football championship of the Republic of Moldova. Recording the time lost in fixed moments of the game from the attack and defense, like in other interruption afforded us to determine the effective time during a football match at a senior level. The conclusions after this study allow optimizing the training processes of the senior teams in the National Division, Division A and B and have a major involvement in adapting the game laws at the requirements of current football.
