Rezumat

The University of Petroşani is the successor of the Mining Institute which functioned in Bucharest for more than 80 years and which, starting with the academic year 1957–1958, functioned in Petroşani. In 1991, the Mining Institute of Petroşani became a Technical University, and in 1995, it was transformed into the University of Petroşani by expanding its fields of study. Within this higher education institution, several female professors have stood out over time; through their research and journalistic activity, they have successfully entered the list of Hunedoara personalities. Among these women dedicated to the technical field, we can mention: prof. Irimie Sabina, who while working as an engineer in the mining machinery industry, also carried out a sustained teaching activity in the field of management at the Mining Machinery department, prof. Lazăr Maria, a specialist in mining and environmental engineering, and prof. Krausz Sanda Mihaela, who stood out through a teaching activity carried out over a period of 52 years and through a long collaboration with research institutes and industrial units. Through their research and teaching activity at the university, as well as through their studies published in Romanian and foreign specialized journals, they succeeded in compelling recognition in a field that has always been the prerogative of men.
