The appearance of the first language prohibitions is linked to the early manifestations of various religious thoughts. The traditional taboos of mankind are the taboos of the sacred and of the impure. There are verbal taboos, as well as social taboos that might be displayed in a person’s behavior. We will try to focus on the cultural taboos specific to Germany and compare them to those used in the Republic of Moldova. Flouting taboos entails direct or indirect, social or cultural sanctions. What are these sanctions? What is considered to be a taboo and what becomes a norm? What are the specific language prohibitions in both societies? We will attempt to answer all these questions in this research work.
