Background. The incidence of Bartholin's gland pathology varies between 5-24% and the hospitalization rate exceeds 90%. The as yet unexplained etiology, clinical features, variety of treatment methods and poor approach in the literature give this spectrum of pathologies a special interest. Objective of the study. Analysis of cases of pathology of the Bartholin's gland within the gynecology department of SCM No. 1 during 2017-2018 by statistical observation, indirect, partial, specially organized with the analysis of relevant parameters. Material and Methods. The following methods of data collection and research were used in the paper: bibliographic method - as sources we used monographs, numerous articles and Internet sources with reference to the researched topic; the method of retrospective research of the observation sheets of the hospitalized patients; the method of statistical processing performed using Microsoft Excel. Results. About 73% of Bartholin's gland cysts appeared in the absence of particular conditions, 10% occurred in the postpartum period and 6% in perimenopause. Bartholin's gland abscesses in about 1/3 of cases also occur in the absence of particular conditions, about 1 in 5 cases were recorded in patients with recurrent urinary tract infections, 12% in patients with recurrent low genital infections and about 9% in with the recent onset of sexual life (within one calendar year). Conclusion. Overweight, recurrent urinary tract infections, level of education, employment and smoking are predisposing factors of statistically proven Bartholin's gland pathology. Births and episiotomies in the anamnesis are not risk factors for GB pathology. |
