The issue of equity and discrimination in the workplace is as current and pressing one, as being neglected among the managerial concerns at the moment, in Romania. The large number of studies in this field demonstrates the growing concern for equity and non-discrimination, a concern that is reflected both at European and global level. In our country, some progress can be noticed in this matter at the legislative level (National Council for Combating Discrimination), and in terms of studying this issue also. Organizations, institutions that can defend the rights of employees are often almost unknown to the interviewees. Employee rights are generally known to employees, but less respected by employers (MacDonald, Piggot, 2011). Information about labor law is usually done individually and always when a problem arises. Most of the time, the solution to a problem in the field of labor relations is solved by leaving the organization and finding a better job. Very few of the interviewees are informed about institutions, organizations to which they can address such problems (Sherman, Bohlander, 2002). As a result of this situation, in the present paper we aim to analyze how equity and discrimination are perceived at the organizational level. |
