In this paper are discussed the results of a breeding programme started in 1996 with two inbred lines from heterotic groups BSSS-B37 and Iodent as donors of favorable genes. From different sources of basic material have been developed nine useful inbreds and some of them were included as parental forms into advanced and precommercial hybrids. The heterotic pattern BSSS-B37 x Iodent was higher grain yielding in favorable and drought conditions of Moldova. In cool and short season environments of Byelorussia the best heterotic patterns were Iodent x Euroflint for grain and Iodent x BSSS-B37, Lancaster x Iodent for silage. For the actual breeding programme have been selected more adaptable to drought genotypes, involved into related crosses as source of initial breeding material for both heterotic groups. |
