Under the current new economic trends, crowdfunding has become a way of financing investment or social projects, aimed at supporting economic growth and development and innovation. The basic idea of crowdfunding is to appeal to a community as a potential funder for implementing a project or developing a product, using online resources from funding or social platforms. This form of financing practiced successfully in countries with developed economies, the leader in this chapter being the USA, followed by EU member states, such as France and Italy. Crowdfunding takes several forms: donation, reward, loans and investment crowdfunding. This article describes the main features of this method of financing, as well as current development trends. |
