Anatolii Șubin is one of the most acknowledged theatrical scenographers, working in the Republic of Moldova since 1945. Being familiar with the new trends in dramaturgy, directing, scenography and other arts, Șubin creates his show sceneries by engaging in fruitful experimental searches. Via the performances staged in the first decades after the war, the visual artist laid the foundations of professional theatrical scenery art in Moldova. The directions of the development of autochthonous scenography were reflected in his elaborations. Thus, the emergence and establishment of new principles in the organization of sets and decor can be tracked down. Representative are the plastic solutions found for the scenic space in the 1960s, when a slight decrease can be noticed in the proportion of painting present in sceneries. Hence, we notice a certain exterior modernization of the techniques and means of expression. The new tendencies are reflected in the artistic creation of A. Șubin starting with the 1970s. It is a period of significant transformations in the theatrical decorative art of Moldova, which largely determined the vision of decorative art that the National Theater embraced in subsequent years. |
