Free Economic Zones are an essential factor of economic and social progress, namely the diversification and qualitative growth of all factors of production, employment, increasing labor productivity, renewing production, thus becoming a key element in conquering markets and maintaining the competitiveness of domestic enterprises and the national economy, oriented towards the path of economic integration. The purpose of the research is to analyze and evaluate the role of Free Economic Zones in attracting domestic and foreign investment and ensuring a stable growth of the national economy. To carry out this study, various research methods were used, such as: observation method, table method, analysis and synthesis method, comparison method, monographic method, statistical data collection. The informational and statistical support of the conducted investigations was provided by the legislative acts of the Republic of Moldova and the generalizing data of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova. The concepts of economists from the country and abroad served as methodological support. In this article, is found an analysis of the economic evolution of free zones on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. A quantitative analysis of the investment and production activity within the Free Economic Zones is performed, including the central trends of economic indicators such as: number of employees and average salary, volume of investments, volume of industrial production manufactured and revenues from the sale of industrial production, volume total taxes and mandatory payments. The results of the research allow us to find that the contribution of free economic zones to the development of the national economy has remarkable shares, registering increasing trends for most of the compared indicators.
