Rezumat | ||||||
This article presents several well-known definitions of learner autonomy, highlighting the cases to which the term „autonomy‟ can be applied in language teaching/learning. The main cause of promoting learner autonomy is the change of focus from the teacher to the learner in class and the reason is creation of the man who is „a producer of his society‟. There are listed characteristics of autonomous learner and suggested strategies to assume for the teacher and learner in the process of „autonomisation‟. Finally, teachers have to be aware of some problems they will have to encounter while fostering learner autonomy |
