Even in our age of total domination of the communicative approach to language teaching the role of the grammar of a foreign language in the formation of a secondary language personality can be called ideological. All the definitions pointing to a basic cognitive potential fit this aspect of the language. Generalized characteristics of words, abstracted from their lexical meanings, grammatical categories and forms of communication help participants to navigate the situation. The use of grammatical information in the creation and perception of the message is an example of modeling world by means of language. |
