Rezumat

Literary fiction allows the exploration of unusual or extraordinary events. One of these phenomena, used by various authors and revised in an original way by each of them, is the double. The connection to the other and the relationship with him is one of the great literary axes because it is precisely in the face-to-face with somebody else that one becomes „self ”. This link between „I” and the other is of particular interest to us in the context of Quebec literature because Quebec is part of the territories particularly marked by the cultural otherness. In this article we will examine the double as the image of a second „I”, based on the theories of the researchers Carl F. Keppler and Clement Rosset. The object of the analysis constitutes the characters of novels by three contemporary writers from Quebec Michel Lefebvre, Nicolas Gilbert and Monique LaRue.
